JEWELRY CARE

Why the choice of brass?

Brass is an oxidizable alloy composed of a part of zinc (from 15 to 30%) and one of copper (from 70 to 85%). Brass is one of the materials chosen to create hypoallergenic costume jewelry without nickel or lead. Compared to copper, it has a double advantage: greater hardness and better resistance. Why is it the predominant metal in RWA Jewels? The reasons are mainly 3:

  1. It is an inexpensive metal that gives me the opportunity to experiment with the use of cubic zirconia and enamels to embellish it, using techniques normally used in jewelry such as pre-setting the stones and all the welding of the rings that are not commonly done in costume jewelry.
  2. It does not contain NICKEL and therefore, despite the thick 18kt gold plating that covers it, it does not cause problems for people with allergies.
  3. Oxidizes, but not too quickly: oxidation is a natural process of the metal, therefore, if abandoned in your jewelry bag or left on display for a long time, it tends to darken. To limit the oxidation of the jewel, you can follow some guidelines explained in the video below:

Jewel Care
Instructions for use:

Oxidation is a natural process of metal; To limit it, follow these simple guidelines:

– avoid wearing your piece while you are at the gym, while swimming and therefore while sweating;

– spray on perfumes, body lotions and hair sprays before putting it on;

– be careful of impacts, high temperatures, direct heat or sunlight;

– if the jewel gets wet, always remember to dry it: humidity can cause oxidation and weaken springs and clasps.

So to make things clearer.
Is brass a precious metal?
NO
Does brass contain NICKEL?
NO
Does brass oxidize?
Yes, but no more than other metals commonly used in jewelry
Does the plating on top tend to come off? Over time, yes, but it is very resistant; following the guidelines for the care of the jewel will keep it beautiful over time. Brass is a fantastic metal with which you can make truly special jewels, a metal to be discovered.

Plastic FREE

Rwa jewels stands out for its attention to the environment and sustainability. One of the ways it demonstrates this attention is through the use of completely plastic-free packaging.

Pre-set stones

Pre-setting is a technique that allows you to create jewelry in lost wax microfusion with stones set directly into the object. The advantages of this technique are many but first of all: the homogeneity and finishing of the setting.

2.5 Microns

GALVANICS for me are the highest cost, but also the thing that interests me the most. Thickness galvanic not only protects the jewel, which over time is less damaged, but also gives it personality.

TOP Welding

ALL the rings that join the elements in the chain and in the RWA mechanisms are WELDED. This ensures greater safety in wearing without the risk of losing them.
