RWA jewels, based in Milan, was born in 2017 by Roberta Whitney Albini: part first name, part source of my imagination.
I create my collections with non-precious materials, preferring to use bronze, brass, colored enamels and cubic zirconia of all shades ; this choice is motivated by the deep conviction that even the most exclusive design should be made accessible to any woman.
Starting with "Batticuore , a purely romantic assortment, I thus began to offer also decidedly more peculiar and bizarre themes by devising and designing truly unique pieces that draw inspiration from daily "encounters" with customary objects.
Anyone who decides to purchase an RWA creation is certain to come into possession of a one-of-a-kind artifact.
Brass is an oxidizable alloy composed of one part zinc (15 to 30 percent) and one part copper (70 to 85 percent) . Brass is one of the materials of choice for creating hypoallergenic costume jewelry without nickel or lead. Compared to copper, it has a twofold advantage: greater hardness and better strength.
Why is it the predominant metal in RWA Jewels?
The reasons are mainly 3:
- It is an inexpensive metal that gives me the opportunity to experiment with using cubic zirconia and enamels to embellish it, using the techniques normally used in jewelry making such as pre-setting of stones and all the soldering of the rings that in costume jewelry is commonly not done.
- It does not contain NICKEL and therefore, despite the thick 18kt gold plating on it, does not give allergic people any problems.
- Oxidize, but not too fast: oxidation is a natural process of metal therefore, if left in one's jewelry case or left on display for a variety of time, it tends to darken. To limit jewelry oxidation, you can follow guidelines explained in the video found in the "jewelry care" area .
